17 years and counting

We had been dating for two years, and living together for one. We got engaged in the parking lot of the San Jose, California airport. While riding out Hurricane Andrew on Key West, we decided to set the date -- 10/10/1992. While looking through a AAA magazine, we read an article about Skyline Drive through the Shenandoah National Park. It mentioned a small waterfall right off the road, and we chose it as the location for our wedding.

We set out from Dallas, Texas on the 8th, driving to Memphis, Tennessee on the first day. On the second day, we made it to Roanoke, Virginia. We set off on the morning of the 10th, located the falls, and started to climb. When we reached the top, we exchanged vows and rings between ourselves and our God.

Goodness, we were young!

Herrad - celebration commenced and continues. Our hearts may be sweet, but you should taste our pancreas. :-)

Cranky and Lisa - It's funny. A wedding is just a point in time meant to be shared with family and friends, so they can witness the love and commitment. And although we had/ve many friends who would have gladly shared that moment with us, we chose to keep it just the two of us. I guess we kind of eloped.

Billy - I'll always remember meeting Nanny for the first time at the hotel the night before you and Kelly married. I came directly from work, and was still wearing my "Sorority Girls from Hell" t-shirt. Nanny read it out loud, not sure what to make of me.

Dede - What the hell did you do to those Tigers? That offensive line had better be in Our Lady of the Lake with swine flu after such a poor performance.

If BR and I are the sum of our experiences, it's nice to know there is some beauty on account to offset the present struggles. :-)

Hi Kim - even yesterday seems so long ago these days. And yet I can't believe we've been in Austin for over a year now.

Now start digging.

Jan, Susanne, and Sherry -.Thanks for stopping by. I had big plans to take BR out to a fine French restaurant for dinner. We didn't leave the house until 1am, and went to the IHOP instead. To our waitress, we were a welcome relief from all the drunk college kids.
